About Shenzhen Bay Park

It is 13 kilometers of park built on reclaimed land on the northern shore of the bay, between Nanshan and Futian. It opened to the public in August 2011, just ahead of the Universiade the city hosted that year. This is where Shenzhen comes to breathe after work, with water on one side and the skyline on the other.

The most interesting stretch is at the far eastern end, next to the city's mangrove reserve. Shenzhen is an important stopover for migratory birds, and the park even has an environmental education center. Don't try to cover it all: pick one stretch and walk until the late-afternoon light settles over the bay.
