About Freedom Beach

There is no road to the sand at Freedom Beach, and that is what keeps it different. It has about 300 meters of pale sand and clear water between Patong and Karon, with a simple toilet and shower, one main restaurant and snorkeling at both ends. You get there by long-tail boat, in about 10 minutes from the south of Patong, or by a steep trail that drops down from the road between Patong and Karon.

Patong, where the boats leave from, is the island's most popular and developed beach, and the contrast shows up within ten minutes at sea. The boats usually run from December to May; in monsoon season, access is limited or simply nonexistent. Try to go in the morning.
