About Belvedere

The gold of The Kiss may be what prompts the booking, but the Upper Belvedere deserves more than a dash to Klimt. The collection includes Schiele and other artists; windows and halls are a reminder that the building began with another purpose. The best-known painting doesn't have to be the finish line.

The gardens connect the Upper to the Lower Belvedere, each with its own program and admission. Put your ticket toward the Upper and stroll the grounds outside. Entry is timed: check the building so you don't begin the visit with an unexpected walk.
