Sydney Opera House seen from the water, with white roofs, a stone base and blue sky.

Sydney Opera House

The white roofs jut out over the harbor, but the Opera House is also a working performing arts venue: seeing the outside and visiting the halls are different outings.

About Sydney Opera House

Walking in from Circular Quay changes the scale of the Opera House: the roofs grow, the steps appear and the wind follows you around the building. Start with the exterior, and watch the ferries moving across the harbor too.

To see the performance spaces, choose a guided tour or a show. The rooms on the tour depend on what is happening in the building; backstage areas are not automatically included. The standard tour involves stairs, and there is a separate tour for visitors with mobility needs.
