About M+

Designed by Herzog & de Meuron with the firm Farrells, M+ opened in November 2021 in the shape of an upside-down T: the galleries sit in a large horizontal slab and the tower rises above it. At night, the harbor-facing facade, full of LEDs, becomes a screen for video works that can be seen from Hong Kong Island.

The collection covers art, design, architecture and moving image from the 20th and 21st centuries, with a strand devoted to Hong Kong's visual culture. The donation from the Swiss collector Uli Sigg, with more than 1,400 works of contemporary Chinese art, is one of the pillars of the collection.
