About Toronto Islands

Downtown fits in the frame as the ferry pulls away from the terminal. On the other side, you trade street corners for park paths, lawns and stretches of beach. Walk without feeling obliged to cross every island, looking back at the opposite shore.

Plan your destination around the season. In summer there are more routes and services; the winter schedule we checked serves Ward's Island. That changes the route and the distance to other areas. Eating, renting a bike or using recreation facilities depends on the time of year, not just on your appetite.
